NATIONAL NOVEL WRITING MONTH

NaNo WriMo is a month-long challenge to write a 50,000 draft of a novel. The number of authors increases every year and encourages people of any age to participate. Their current branding focuses on the word count rather than encouraging writers to be creative and have fun. This rebranding concept launches a series of characters and idea generators to encourage participants to have fun and open creative doors while writing.

THE CHARACTERS

I created a series of characters to illustrate the different genres of writing. Everything from horror to history to mystery is embodied in a character design. The characters are used throughout the branding as encouragement to write and help those who are stuck.

WEB DESIGN

Because the rebrand works from the personalities of the character designs, I kept the website minimally designed with the focus on the characters. An additional web feature includes a plot generator which takes different genres and combines them into unique stories. It focuses on genres that aren't usually paired together to help jumpstart ideas.

THE CAMPAIGN

A series of ads created to promote the nonprofit including short stories and encouragement to join for the upcoming year. I created a couple animations and some magazine articles.
